Information

Sage belongs to the family of Lamiaceae; it is a perennial plant that can
reach a height of 70 cm and takes the shape of real bushes. Its stalks
are green at first, and later become woody as the plant reaches its
perfection. Its leaves have a short petiole, are of oval-lanceolate shape,
of a beautiful grey-green colour with dentate edges and with a velvety
top face while the bottom one is rougher and has glaring midribs. A
peculiarity it has is its richness in essential oils which give the
characteristic aroma to the leaves.
The cultivation is carried out rigorously with biological
methods, all stages of processing are carried out by hand
without resorting to irrigations, pesticides and fertilizers but only to
sun, high mountain air and an uncontaminated soil.
That's why the Sage produced by “Azienda Agricola Filippone” has an
unmistakable aroma and genuineness.
Its leaves are much used in cookery to flavor foods and to help
digestion.

Characteristics

We recommend the use of Sage to flavour pasta and gnocchi with
butter, to prepare sauces, roasted or stewed meat, fish, pulses,
aromatic oils and vinegars.
Since ancient times, Sage has been attributed digestive, cholagogic,
bechic, expectorant, tonic-stimulant, antiseptic properties.
We present our Sage in small bunches sealed in single packets in order
to maintain its peculiar characteristics, which remain unaltered until
the crumbling.
The Sage produced by “Azienda Agricola Filippone” is harvested,
worked and packaged rigorously by hand as required by tradition, thus
granting the maximum in quality and genuineness.
