In 1991, Emilio Placci planted vineyards 600 metres
high, an idea that seemed madness, side by side with
chestnut grove over shallow soil: rocks under, marl and
sandstone over. As time goes by he was right and today
the Il Pratello’s Sangiovese are among the most exciting
and enduring of all Romagna.
